main page and public installation

Sorry, maybe it could seem a stupid question but I'm going to install FP on a new site after some test on my test site.
I'm going to install on Aruba, so I know I have to use the public directory and to set the w-permissions to fp-contents.
If I install FP this way I'll get a site reachable using the address "
http://mysite.com/public/
". So I should use a redirect to go from my default.html to "
http://mysite.com/public/default.php
".
Is there a way to avoid it? Is there a way to configure FP so I can reach my site "
http://mysite.com
" without seeing "
http://mysite.com/public/
" on my address bar?
Thank you in advance

I don't use Aruba, so I'm not shure of what I'm going to write.
Are you sure that you have to put files in the public directory?
