As promised I’m home.
Well, I’m still working to PrettyURLs and fixing stuff here and there, I hope to end with a test version soon, be patient :) because in the meantime I’m studying too :P

I was wondering,do all these plugins(generally,no only FP’s)support other characters than Enhlish in the url?
Like me.com/χαχαχα.
On local testes you can have static pages and entries with Greek names,but how would prettyURLS and other ender them on the url fields of the browser?Would they show up like::
me.com/20%TH%UO% etc etc

I’ve used the same ’sanize_title_with_dashes’ function of wordpress, so they should work the same. In Italian stressed chars are just stripped out. Good question, though :/ I’ll try to have a look

I dont think theres a way aorunf this,as the current domain name standard eosnt support utf domain,and adresses.Anyway,If possible could you please include some additional BBCode stuff(Like FLash,and Video,with Height parmameters).
Thanks for the great work,and btw why do you submit FP to opensourcecms site?

Also you didn’t comment my suggestion regarding themes on the previous post.I find the Smarty theming engine too hard to understand let alone code.I’ve been trying for like 3 days to port simple theme from e107 to FP and dont have a damn clue :(
Maybe you could add a theme engine functionality like Druypal has?

UTF domains are in a certain way supported in all the major browsers, but you usually don’t see them because the actual url look ugly and because of phishing attempts (people registered domains like pà ypal.com for instance: you don’t see the stress at a first glance). I
‘ve tried this morning posting an entry with a Greek sentence for the title and it actually worked, even though the URL in the address bar of the browser looked a bit exoteric.
By the way I’ve implemented the thing in such a way that one can write a plugin to work around the limitation, it works the same as here http://www.papascott.de/archives/2004/06/02/wordpress-and-german-slugs/
As for BBCode there’s a brief explanation on how to add custom codes ([video] is already supported, though); the steps may varyin the next release, but I’ll update the wiki accordingly.
On the wiki you can find a brief explanation of themes, too, and I can assure you it’s not hard at all, if you have any questions, just ask. I think smarty is a lot more easy to understand for a non-programmer than PHP, and even if I’m wrong on that, it’s anyway shorter to type. See:
<?php a_tag_in_php(); ?>
{a_tag_in_smarty}
or:
<?php while(has_more_posts()) : ?>
<!– stuff to print –>
<?php endwhile; ?>
instead of (for instance)
{entry_block}
{entry}
<!– stuff to print –>
{/entry}
{/entry_block}
FlatPress is quite tight to Smarty for the rendering part at the moment, so I’m not planning to add support for other rendering engines.
Drupal is a great piece of software, but please think of what FlatPress would like to be and what Drupal is.
FP is not meant to compete with the bigger names you mention.
And, anyway, that would *a hell of a lot of work*.
bye!

Regarding the themes:
What I had in mind would be more like the them engine you could find here:http://e107.aureea.com/e107_files/public/aureea1/
SO theres only one HTNL fine that define pretty much everything with ease.Anyway its up to you.
Other than this,do you have any good resources(links,books etc,)to get me started on PHP Coding?

Also regarding the BBCodes,please could you put them all int he New Entry interface.I know a thumbnail and video BBCodes are there but how many people know that since the only ones that show are the Bold,Underline and Itallic?
THanks for the great script!
(And if possible please a w way to change the dates of the post throught Admin Panel)

BBCode:
That would mean many buttons and I fear to clutter the interface, so I’ve linked a page on the wiki right on that bar where they’re all listed with explanations http://wiki.flatpress.org/doc:plugins:bbcode
e107:
http://e107.aureea.com/e107_files/public/aureea1/
You can accomplish pretty much the same with FP. You usually start with a “static” theme (i.e. a plain html page) and then you break it into pieces.
When you read {include} in a theme it means that the *designer* decided to break the template into even smaller pieces than FP required. For instance FP does not require you to have a header.tpl file, but almost every theme does so and the includes the header, so that that part has not to be rewritten many times in the same template.
By the way e107 uses Smarty IIRC
Custom Date/Time:
I don’t know. Maybe in a plugin, that would otherwise really clutter the UI
PHP:
I learned (and I’m still learning) by examples, and mostly with the help of the PHP manual. I have two books one published by McGraw-Hill and the other one by O’Reilly.

When I suggested the date modification I had a good reason.Actually I want to make my blog from e107 to FP,but theres no converter,so I had to do copy-paste everything.BUT… after doing so,if I try to change the structure of the folders where the data is stored(according always to the SPB structure,as it is defined in the docs)the posts never show up.
plus it is a big trouble to change like 15 folders and 40+ files each of them.I belive the Add Entry page should be more functional ,more in the style of WP or modern CMS.And the date funciton is really a very basic one.

Ok, I’ve scribed down this:
http://wiki.flatpress.org/res:plugins:datechanger
Please notice it is largely untested, so I don’t suggest to use it every day. If you see fancy ordering in your entries, just delete the contents of you cache/ directory.
Hope this helps :)

Ok I did test it and here are the results:
1)I wrote the text i wanted and then filled all the date fields.Submited but then for a weird reason the date of the post was 2099,at 00:00:00!
2)Tried again,and same thing happened with the exception that the old post is deleted and the new one is added(again at the same date format,no matter what i fill in)
Thanks for your help man.

there was a typo :P fixed on the wiki.
PS: please notice that - as you did - you’ll always have to fill in all the fields. You can easily change it to use the current date, but the problem it will probably lead to the creation of duplicates if you *edit* your entries!
HTH

As I see Flash isnt suprted,or am I missing/not doing something right?I tried to put to play a flash file,and saw an “Unsupported” format” message.
Sunday, September 9, 2007 - 07:53:19
You forgot to say *how* and *where* you put it.
Sunday, September 9, 2007 - 09:05:10
Heres the syntax I did:
[ video=http://localhost/eb/fp-content/flash/01.swf]yo[/video]
(Of course I made the folder and put the file in there)
The test was made on localhost.
Sunday, September 9, 2007 - 10:35:57
video it’s only for youtube and google video; I thought it was on the FAQs, but it’s not; btw, look here
http://www.flatpress.org/home/blog.php?entry=entry070210-211548
and here
http://www.flatpress.org/home/blog.php?entry=entry070427-194440
to embed SWF you’ll have to use [html] and a valid xhtml strict html code. Search google
you can also create a custom bbcode following the instructions on the wiki, and looking at the code for the [video] tag in the bbcode plugin source

I noticed a bug.From time to time,when i try to post a new entry or make a static page this is the error I get:
Warning: Smarty error: validate: validator id ’subject’ is not registered. in C:Program Filesxampphtdocsebfp-includessmartySmarty.class.php on line 1095
Warning: Smarty error: validate: validator id ‘content’ is not registered. in C:Program Filesxampphtdocsebfp-includessmartySmarty.class.php on line 1095
Warning: Smarty error: validate: validator id ‘id’ is not registered. in C:Program Filesxampphtdocsebfp-includessmartySmarty.class.php on line 1095
Of course this is on localhost,but happens on live site as well.

known bug, but thanks.
don’t open more than one page (if it contains a form) of FP at once (for instance in several tabs).
BTW, this should be now fixed in the next release
