If you happen to find the time, please help us testing this current version. Try a fresh installation, or update a testing copy of your existing blog.
We have prepared a Community Test plan which you may find helpful to work with (please let us know if not).
This is a release candidate. Although it’s very likely what will become the final release, you may not want to use it on your productive blog yet.
P.S.:
Stay tuned for more information about the name “Stringendo”!
Also, we’ll have some nerdy insights into the caching methods used - reeeal soon! :)

Hey folks,
it’s that time of year when little secrets happen and pleasant surprises await us. Of course, this also applies to FlatPress, and so I am happy to tell you that we move towards the first tests of the upcoming FlatPress version 1.5.
But not only do we need a plan - we also need a Release Candidate version to be tested! We’re working on that as well. You’ll be the first to hear when it’s done - here on our project blog, or over at Mastodon. Feel free to follow us there!
So stay tuned - and thanks for helping us testing!
Thank you very much for reporting the issues you stumbled upon in FlatPress 1.4 “Notturno”! Poor Fraenkiman simply couldn’t rest until everything was fixed, and this is the result: FlatPress 1.4.1 is here!
But it’s not just bugfixes: As a little treat, the new release introduces the Newsletter plugin that helps you keeping subscribed readers up to date.
Please see the release information on GitHub to find the detailed change log, a full installation package and an update package:
After quite some testing, we finally released FlatPress 1.4 “Notturno”.
The general look and feel of FlatPress 1.4 hasn’t changed too much compared to 1.3 - it’s all the small details that were improved:
With an updated Smarty template engine, FlatPress now supports PHP up to 8.4.
Numerous useful enhancements made it into FlatPress, such as as freely choosable blog author name, the ability to change the Admin credentials more easily, or the removal of unwanted metadata from uploaded images.
We fixed quite a lot of bugs and possible security issues (thanks to all the reporters!).
Since the PhotoSwipe plugin became the default for displaying images, the old LightBox plugin was removed - you still find it in our FlatPress Extras repository.
The newly added GDPR Video embed plugin provides a simple two-click solution for GDPR-compliant embedding of YouTube, Facebook and Vimeo videos.
Please see the release information on GitHub to find the detailed change log, a download package and an update package from FlatPress 1.4:
Since music pieces written (or typically performed) at night time are sometimes called “Nocturnes” (listen to a famous one), the release name “Notturno” is a tribute to all the night shifts Fraenkiman worked for FlatPress 1.4 - thank you very, very much, mate!
Also thanks to all of you out there reporting bugs and possible security problems. You make FlatPress so much better!
